Two men charged in $1.3 million 49ers player impersonation scam

Two men, 35-year-old Daejon Labrayae Love and 18-year-old Taylor Jamie Chan, have been charged with wire fraud and conspiracy to commit wire fraud following a $1.3 million dating app scam.

Starting in 2022, Love allegedly posed as a wealthy San Francisco 49ers player on dating apps to target women across Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and California. After establishing fake romantic connections, Love introduced Chan as his financial advisor. Using fraudulent bank accounts to simulate significant wealth, the pair convinced victims to invest money that was subsequently stolen. The suspects were recently arrested in Boise, Idaho, while attempting to meet new victims.
