Two men drown in German lakes amid rescue efforts

A 39‑year‑old swimmer who entered the Neffelsee near Züpich‑Füssenich on Sunday night was found dead on Monday morning after a large search involving police, the DLRG, Red Cross, fire services and the THW, using sonar boats, drones and divers. Authorities say there is no indication of external culpability.

A 28‑year‑old man who disappeared on Sunday at the Korker Baggersee near Kehl was recovered dead on Monday afternoon at about 20 m depth after French gendarmerie sonar assistance. German police, fire, DLRG and Red Cross teams conducted the rescue, which was hampered by park access difficulties. The investigation also points to an accidental drowning without foul play.
