Two men face trial for brutal murder of 20-year-old in Kula

The Vidin District Prosecutor's Office has filed an indictment against Anton Iliev, 30, and Valentin Kamenov, 22, for the intentional murder of 20-year-old Marian Paskov in Kula. The charges include murder committed in an especially cruel and torturous manner.

According to investigators, the incident occurred in March 2025. Following a gathering where alcohol was consumed, the two defendants allegedly assaulted Paskov—who had a mild intellectual disability—because he had not split firewood. The assault involved kicking and punching, as well as the use of a wooden stick, a pitchfork, and a heated metal object.

After Paskov lost consciousness, the defendants reportedly attempted to burn his body in a courtyard using gasoline. They subsequently disposed of the unburned remains in a nearby makeshift landfill. Iliev initially told police he did not know the victim's whereabouts when officers arrived to investigate Paskov's disappearance.
