Two men granted bail in fatal Leopardstown violent disorder case

Two men, Marcel Rostas (19) and Gratian Rostas (47), have been granted bail after being charged with violent disorder following a fatal incident in Leopardstown, Dublin. The charges stem from an altercation on August 29 at Marketing House in South County Business Park.

Authorities allege the disturbance involved approximately 15 members of the Roma community residing at the abandoned premises. The incident, reportedly sparked by a dispute over personal property, escalated into a large-scale violent altercation involving weapons such as metal poles, sticks, and shovels. Three men sustained significant injuries during the event; one man in his 20s later died in the hospital.

During the court proceedings, it was alleged that CCTV footage captured the use of lethal implements. One accused is alleged to have struck the victim twice in the head with a shovel. While gardaí opposed bail, citing flight risks and the severity of the incident, Judge Conor Fottrell granted bail to both men subject to specific conditions.
