Two young men, aged 22 and 24, died in a single-vehicle traffic accident on the Mitrovica–Priština highway near the village of Smrekovnica. The victims have been identified as Ćendrim Džemajli and Rinor Zejnulahu, both residents of Kosovska Mitrovica.

The accident occurred in the early morning hours. According to police reports, the vehicle carrying the driver and passenger was involved in the crash, and although they were transported for medical assistance, doctors could only confirm their deaths at the scene.

Following orders from the competent prosecutor, the bodies were transferred to the Institute of Forensic Medicine for autopsy. The Regional Traffic Police unit is currently investigating the circumstances and cause of the accident. Faton Peci, the Mayor of Kosovska Mitrovica, issued a statement expressing deep condolences to the families of the deceased, noting that the loss affects the entire community.
