Two men sentenced to prison for migrant smuggling in Ciudad Juárez

Two men, identified as Francisco “N” and Bryan “N”, have been sentenced to three years, ten months, and ten days in prison for attempted migrant smuggling in Ciudad Juárez, Mexico. The sentencing followed a plea bargain, according to the Fiscalía General de la República (FGR).

The incident occurred near the border wall along the Río Bravo. Local municipal police intercepted a group of four individuals attempting to cross illegally into the United States using a metal ladder. Authorities seized the ladder, bolt cutters, and a mobile phone at the scene.

Victims provided testimony regarding the smuggling operations. One individual from Ecuador identified the defendants as the organizers of a crossing attempt for a fee of 2,000 dollars. Another individual from the State of Mexico reported being offered passage for 170,000 pesos, which included two days of lodging in Ciudad Juárez prior to the attempted crossing. In addition to prison time, a judge imposed a fine on each defendant totaling approximately 282,365.17 pesos.
