Two Nigerians extradited to U.S. for alleged child sextortion
Two Nigerian men, Adebola Festus Adekunle and Mudashiru Afeez Olawale, have been extradited to the United States following investigations by the FBI into online sextortion schemes targeting male minors.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) facilitated the extradition on August 26, 2026. The suspects are accused of using child sexual abuse material to extort money through cryptocurrency, gift cards, and money remitters. The investigations linked the men to two separate cases involving American teenagers who died by suicide after being subjected to online sexual exploitation and blackmail.
Adebola Festus Adekunle faces a federal indictment including charges of sexual exploitation of a minor resulting in death, production of child sexual abuse material, and interstate threats. One specific case involved 16-year-old Walker Montgomery from Mississippi, who died by suicide in December 2022. Adekunle faces up to life in prison, with a mandatory minimum of 30 years for the charge involving exploitation resulting in death.
Mudashiru Afeez Olawale faces a seven-count charge, including sexual exploitation of a minor resulting in death, enticement, and the distribution of child pornography.
