Two officials killed during weapons inspection in Bavaria
Investigations are ongoing following a fatal shooting during a weapons inspection in Berngau, Bavaria. Two officials from the weapons authority, a 54-year-old woman and her 45-year-old colleague, were shot multiple times and died at the scene.
Bavarian Interior Minister Joachim Herrmann stated that the motive and specific circumstances of the incident remain unclear. The 60-year-old suspect, a member of a shooting club with legal firearms, was injured during his arrest by a special police unit and remains under medical supervision. Because of his injuries, he has not yet been able to be interrogated.
Authorities are working to determine whether the inspection was a routine procedure or a specifically planned event. The victims were long-term employees of the weapons authority, complicating the investigation into their professional history and the reasons for the visit.
