Two pine trees fall in Italy, prompting road closures and vehicle damage

On the morning of 2 June, a large pine branch in the Lido di Roma district of Ostia began to collapse onto Via Capo Spartivento. Residents alerted emergency services, and police and fire crews arrived within minutes. Firefighters cut and secured the precarious limb, preventing it from striking pedestrians or vehicles. The incident caused a temporary closure of the street segment between Via Alessandro Piola Caselli and the Attico Tabacchi viaduct.

A separate incident occurred on 1 June in Viale Sant’Ignazio, where a six‑metre‑tall pine split in two and fell onto a parked car, damaging its roof. Local police and the municipal green‑area office diverted traffic to Via Frate Nicola da Gesturi while the tree was trimmed and the vehicle removed. Both events highlight ongoing concerns about the condition of tall trees in public areas and the response of municipal services to prevent accidents.
