Two River Drownings in Brazil Claim Lives of Young Man and Boat Pilot

Luiz Abreu dos Reis disappeared after diving in the Rio Tocantins near Pedro Afonso, Brazil, on the evening of 31 March. He was found dead the following day by the Corpo de Bombeiros, and his body will undergo necropsy before release to his family.

Guiomar Gimenes, a 61‑year‑old boat pilot, vanished on the Rio Tietê near Promissão, São Paulo, on 31 March. His body was recovered by a fisherman on 2 April. Authorities are investigating the circumstances of his death, which occurred under adverse weather conditions.
