Two Romanians killed in Swiss building fire

The Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed that two Romanian citizens died in a major fire that occurred in the Swiss town of Thusis. The incident took place on the night of August 21, 2026, in a building that housed a restaurant and several residential apartments.

Swiss authorities in the Grisons canton completed the identification process for the victims. The fire caused significant damage to the structure, and while 14 people managed to escape, eight others were injured, including two in serious condition. The total death toll from the blaze reached four people.

The Romanian Embassy in Bern is in contact with Swiss authorities and is providing consular assistance to the families of the deceased. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has expressed its condolences to the victims' families.
