Mureș County Drowning Tragedy Claims Two Children, Adds Multiple Road Accident Victims

On Tuesday, 21 July, a series of incidents struck Romania's Mureș County. In the village of Cipău, two children aged 10 and 11 fell into the Mureș River and were rescued in cardiac arrest, but could not be revived. A 38‑year‑old man was also found dead in the river at Luduș later that night. The same day saw several serious road accidents across the county, including a crash in Adămuș that injured six people – three adults and three minors – and other collisions on DN 13A. Emergency responders, comprising fire‑fighter units, SMURD ambulances, a rescue helicopter and divers from ISU Bistrița‑Năsăud, were deployed to the flood sites and road accident locations. Despite rapid intervention, the children were pronounced dead and the injured were taken to hospitals for treatment. The incidents resulted in multiple fatalities and numerous injuries, prompting a coordinated rescue operation throughout the county.
