Germany sees two serious traffic collisions in July 2026

On 25 July 2026 near Ulfen in Sontra (Werra‑Meißner Kreis, Hesse), a 26‑year‑old combine‑harvester driver from Wildeck collided head‑on with a Dacia. The Dacia driver, a 66‑year‑old woman from Heringen, was seriously injured; an 85‑year‑old passenger died at the scene; a three‑year‑old boy was taken to hospital for observation. The farmer was unharmed, the car was totalled, and the B400 was closed until after 02:40 while investigators examined the crash.

Later that day, around 11:30 on Würzburg’s Nordtangente near the Rimparer Straße, a 79‑year‑old driver lost control, struck a fence and rolled down a slope, igniting the vehicle and a nearby embankment. The Würzburger fire service extinguished the fire and the road was fully closed before being reopened. The driver sustained serious injuries and was transported to a hospital. Police are investigating both incidents.
