Two serious workplace accidents injure workers in Brazil's Acre and Santa Catarina

A 48‑year‑old worker, Jerson Silva e Silva, was seriously injured when a tree branch fell on him while clearing trees on a rural property near Rio Branco, Acre. He suffered multiple fractures, active bleeding and a mild head injury before being rescued by SAMU and taken to the Rio Branco Hospital.

In São Bento do Sul, Santa Catarina, a 49‑year‑old construction worker fell about six metres from a roof during a building project. He remained conscious but reported severe lower‑back pain and was transported to the Hospital and Maternity Sagrada Família for medical evaluation.

Both incidents highlight the risks faced by laborers in Brazil’s construction and agricultural sectors and the emergency response efforts of local medical services.
