Mühlrüti, Switzerland: 24‑year‑old motorcyclist severely injured in failed overtaking

On the afternoon of 1 August 2026, a collision occurred on Hulfteggstrasse in Mühlrüti, Switzerland. A 56‑year‑old driver attempted to overtake on the opposite lane, while a 24‑year‑old motorcyclist simultaneously tried to overtake the vehicle ahead. Both entered the oncoming lane, causing the motorcyclist’s bike to be struck by the overtaking car and then collide with a third vehicle driven by a 44‑year‑old woman.

The motorcyclist suffered serious injuries and was taken by ambulance to hospital. The other road users escaped unharmed. The accident prompted partial road closures and the damage was estimated at about 10,000 CHF.
