Two severe road crashes in Rotterdam and Zaandam leave injuries and damage

A high‑speed collision on the Westzeedijk in Rotterdam around 23:10 on Sunday involved a three‑occupant car that struck a pole. Two occupants were seriously injured and taken to Erasmus MC, while the third received minor injuries. Police are investigating the cause and the road was closed for several hours while the damaged vehicle was removed.

In Zaandam on the night of 5 July, a taxi collided with an Audi Q3 e‑tron on Heijermansstraat. The taxi’s left front wheel hit the Audi, damaging the taxi’s suspension and rendering it immobile; the taxi driver was not found. The Audi’s occupants were unharmed. Police partially closed the street and the Audi was later towed.
