Two siblings die after bicycle accident in Michigan

Two siblings, aged 12 and 13, have died following a bicycle accident in Leroy Township, Michigan. The incident occurred on September 5 when the children were riding their bicycles on Grand River Avenue when they were struck by a Ford Explorer.

Calvin Shepard, 12, died at the scene. His sister, Karalee Shepard, 13, was transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries but passed away five days later, as confirmed by their mother, Raquel Roark Shepard, on September 10.

The Michigan State Police reported that both children were wearing helmets at the time of the collision. The driver of the SUV, a 64-year-old woman, remained at the scene. Authorities stated that drugs or alcohol were not factors in the accident. An investigation is ongoing, and no arrests or charges have been announced.
