Two sisters die in hazelnut garden accident in Ordu

Two sisters, Melehat Gümüş (60) and Fatma Gümüş (65), have died after falling from a cliff into a stream while harvesting hazelnuts in the Çamaş district of Ordu, Turkey.

The incident occurred in the Sarıyakup neighborhood. After the sisters failed to return for lunch, local residents and authorities launched a search operation. Their bodies were subsequently recovered from the stream below the cliff.

Preliminary assessments suggest the women lost their balance while working in their garden. The sisters, who were married to brothers and had grown up in the same household, were buried in a local cemetery near the site of the accident.
