Two sisters, Bruna Cristina Di Berti, 33, and Micheli Caroline Di Berti, 29, died following a serious traffic accident on the BR-163 highway in Paraná, Brazil. The incident occurred on Monday morning near the western bypass of Cascavel, between Toledo and Cascavel.
The victims were traveling in a Chevrolet Onix driven by Bruna’s 32-year-old husband. According to the Federal Highway Police (PRF), the vehicle likely hydroplaned due to wet road conditions, causing the driver to lose control. The car left the roadway, traveled through a drainage channel, and overturned several times before striking a containment structure.
In addition to the two deceased women, a six-year-old boy was in the vehicle and sustained fractures; he was transported to the University Hospital of Western Paraná. The driver suffered minor injuries and was treated at a local urgent care unit. Breathalyzer tests conducted by the PRF returned negative results for alcohol consumption.
The deceased were the daughters of Everaldo Di Berti, a businessman, former city councilman, and current candidate for state deputy in Santa Catarina, who also serves as the president of the Liberal Party (PL) in São Miguel do Oeste. Di Berti released a statement expressing profound grief over the loss of his daughters.
