Two Small Aircraft Crashes in Brazil Prompt Local Rescue Operations

A small aircraft crashed into a river near the community of Caité, located between the municipalities of Tonantins and Jutaí in the Amazonas region. Residents assisted the initial rescue, towing parts of the wreckage with a boat. Preliminary reports indicate only one person survived, though authorities have not confirmed the total number of occupants or their condition.

In a separate incident, an amphibious ultralight aircraft went down in Lago Corumbá at Caldas Novas, Goiás. The plane was carrying two men, aged 33 and 25. Both were rescued by fire‑department crews; one suffered signs of hypothermia while the other was unharmed. They were taken to a local urgent care unit for evaluation. The causes of both crashes remain under investigation.
