Two stabbing attacks in Capixaba, Acre leave one man gravely injured and an 18‑year‑old dead

On the morning of 12 May in the rural town of Capixaba, Acre, 44‑year‑old Adairton Jerônimo Chaves was stabbed during an altercation involving alcohol. He suffered severe injuries, including exposed viscera, and was transferred in critical condition to a hospital in Rio Branco. Police recovered the weapon and arrested a suspect, who was taken to the local police station for investigation.

The following night, 13 May, a separate family dispute in the same locality resulted in the fatal stabbing of 18‑year‑old Raylan Lima de Freitas. He died from penetrating wounds despite emergency medical assistance. A second person was also wounded but survived. Police identified and detained the attacker, who was placed in custody pending further inquiry.

Both incidents prompted mobilization of the Acre State Military Police, emergency medical services, and the Civil Police, highlighting concerns about violent confrontations in isolated Amazonian communities.
