Two Suspects Killed in Police Operation in Sousas, Brazil

Family members of two men killed during a police operation in the Beco Mokarzel area of Sousas, Campinas, appeared at the 12th Police District to give statements. The relatives, one from Rio Grande do Sul and another residing in Indaiatuba, said they were unaware of any criminal involvement by the deceased. The Civil Police investigation aims to identify the victims formally and to facilitate the release of their bodies by the Institute of Medical Legal (IML). Authorities allege the two men were suspected members of a group that stole a Toyota Hilux pickup in Rio de Janeiro, with the vehicle allegedly intended for illegal sale in Paraguay. The investigation continues under the jurisdiction of the Sousas Civil Police, while the Public Security Secretariat has not disclosed details on the number of shots fired or the final conclusions.
