Two teachers on trial over death of adopted infant Preston Davey

Jamie Varley and John McGowan-Fazakerley, both teachers, are on trial over the death of Preston Davey, the 13-month-old child they adopted, and are accused of sexually abusing him.

The court heard that one of the teachers had harmful thoughts about the adopted baby Preston Davey as the case unfolded in the courtroom.

In text messages to friends and relatives days after Preston Davey, then ten months old, was placed in their care, Jamie Varley described the child as "dead meat" and joked about killing him, the court heard.
