Two teenagers found dead in Thakurgaon pond

The bodies of two teenagers, identified as 15-year-old Umur Ali and 13-year-old Miraj, were recovered from a pond in Haripur Upazila, Thakurgaon, on Sunday morning. The two boys, who were uncle and nephew, had gone missing on Saturday afternoon after leaving their homes on bicycles.

Family members discovered their bicycles abandoned near the edge of a large local pond during a search. Following the discovery, the Fire Service conducted an overnight operation. The first body was recovered around 2:00 AM, and the second was retrieved later Sunday morning.

Haripur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Abdul Hakim Azad stated that preliminary investigations suggest the boys may have drowned while swimming or playing in the pond. The deaths have caused significant grief within the Amgaon village community.
