Two teenagers rescued after getting lost in Toten Gebirge

Two 17-year-olds were rescued after becoming lost during a hike in the Toten Gebirge mountains in Austria. The teenagers had started their trek early in the morning and spent the day near the Pühringerhütte, but they began their descent late in the evening.

As darkness fell, the pair lost their way. Their headlamp failed due to a dead battery, and they attempted to navigate using their mobile phone lights. After the 17-year-old's phone battery also died, his father alerted the police. Because weather conditions prevented the use of a police helicopter, a rescue team searched on foot and located the two individuals at approximately 00:40 near the Sepp-Huber-Steig at an altitude of 850 meters. Both were found uninjured.
