Two teenagers rescued in Henri Pittier National Park

Two 17-year-old teenagers, identified as Manuel Rizzi and Ricardo Duque, were rescued alive after being lost in the Henri Pittier National Park in Aragua state, Venezuela. The youths had gone missing on Sunday afternoon while hiking in the mountainous area of Fila Cabrera, specifically in the Cerro de Mata Seca sector of the Mario Briceño Iragorry municipality.

A 16-hour search operation, coordinated by the Unified Command of Adverse Events, concluded on Monday morning. The rescue effort involved personnel from Civil Protection, Aragua Firefighters, police agencies, and volunteer rescuers. Following their location, the teenagers received preventive medical attention and were evaluated by technical staff; no serious injuries were reported.

Authorities have issued a warning to hikers and recreational visitors to exercise extreme responsibility when navigating the mountain routes, noting that a lack of route knowledge puts lives at risk.
