Two teens arrested after egg-throwing incident in Waymo vehicle
Two 14-year-old boys from San Francisco were arrested after allegedly stealing six dozen eggs from a Trader Joe’s in San Carlos and using a Waymo self-driving vehicle to throw them at passing cars.
According to the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred on July 28. The juveniles reportedly fled southbound on El Camino Real in the Waymo vehicle, striking several drivers in Redwood City with the eggs. Atherton police intercepted the Waymo near the intersection of El Camino Real and Atherton Avenue and detained the suspects.
The case has been referred to the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office for potential charges of petty theft and throwing objects at vehicles. Due to their age, the names of the suspects have not been released.
