Two traffic accidents in Upper Austria involve trees, cause severe injuries
On 5 July 2026, a 93‑year‑old driver travelling on Oberdambachstraße near Amstetten left the road and collided with a tree. The vehicle became trapped, and firefighters from Oberdambach, Garsten, Sand and Laussa freed the driver. After emergency medical care he was air‑lifted to a hospital in Linz.
Later the same evening, a driver in Dietach veered off the Fachmarktring after a curve, striking a tree and a street‑light mast. The impact threatened to topple the mast onto nearby parked cars, so firefighters secured the site, removed the power supply, and used a crane to dismantle the mast and fell the damaged tree. The injured driver was taken to the Pyhrn‑Eisenwurzen Clinic in Steyr.
