Two Ukrainian nationals detained in Danish espionage investigation
Two Ukrainian citizens, aged 18 and 21, have been detained in connection with an alleged espionage case targeting the Danish defense company MyDefence in Nørresundby. Following a five-hour closed-door hearing at the Aalborg Court, a judge ruled that while there was no immediate basis for pre-trial detention, the arrests will be maintained for three days.
The prosecution alleges the men photographed the MyDefence facility on October 19 and transmitted the images to an individual via Telegram. Authorities suspect the involvement of a Russian intelligence service, though the specific agency has not been identified. The suspects have denied all charges.
Danish Justice Minister Nicolai Wammen expressed that he views the case with great seriousness, noting the grave security climate. The investigation is being conducted by North Jutland Police with assistance from the Danish Security and Intelligence Service (PET).
