Two vehicle overturns in Minas Gerais injure occupants and spark fire

In Barbacena early Saturday, a side‑impact collision struck a ride‑hailing car, causing it to overturn. Two passengers – a 28‑year‑old man with a left eyebrow wound and a 26‑year‑old woman with a frontal head bruise – were treated on‑site by the Military Fire Department and later taken to the regional hospital. The driver of the other vehicle fled before emergency crews arrived.

On Sunday night near kilometer 22 of the state highway MGC‑497 outside Uberlândia, a driver swerved to avoid a sudden obstacle, lost control and the vehicle rolled over, igniting a large fire that consumed the car and spread to dry vegetation. The driver escaped before the flames grew and was taken by bystanders to a private clinic. Three fire trucks and eight firefighters extinguished the blaze and prevented further forest damage, after which highway police assumed traffic control.
