Two women sentenced for violent attacks in Brazil's Federal District

A woman was convicted by the Domestic Violence Court in Taguatinga Norte for assaulting her mother during a dispute over a dissolved business partnership. The judge found nine injuries on the victim and sentenced the offender to two years of imprisonment under an open‑regime sentence, with a possibility of serving the term in freedom if conditions are met, and ordered a R$1,000 compensation payment.

In a separate case, a woman was found guilty by the Brasília Jury Court of attempting to murder her 23‑year‑old brother in Vila Estrutural. The attack, carried out with a knife after an alcohol‑induced argument, was deemed a “cruenta” attempt. She received a ten‑year prison term in a closed‑regime facility, with immediate execution of the sentence and no right to appeal in freedom.

Both convictions were handed down by courts in the Federal District of Brazil, highlighting the judiciary's response to severe domestic and fraternal violence.
