Ty Benefield tops preseason 2027 CFL Scouting Bureau rankings

LSU safety Ty Benefield has secured the top spot in the preseason edition of the Canadian Football League (CFL) Scouting Bureau rankings for the 2027 draft class. Benefield, a Vancouver native and son of former CFL player Daved Benefield, transferred to LSU from Boise State following the 2025 season.

Benefield, a 6-foot-3, 208-pound defender, previously earned first-team All-Mountain West honors. The preseason rankings, compiled by CFL scouts, player personnel directors, and general managers, also feature several other notable prospects, including Bryce Butler of Texas Tech at number two and Nick Osho of North Texas at number three.

The list includes a mix of positions, featuring eight defensive linemen and five offensive linemen. Notable Canadian prospects include Jordan Lessard, ranked seventh, and Dolapo Egunjobi, ranked eighth, both of whom played for Canadian universities before transferring to NCAA programs.
