TY Danjuma leads N5bn fundraising for Benue school rehabilitation

Retired Lieutenant General TY Danjuma is leading a fundraising initiative by the Katsina-Ala Old Boys Association (KAOBA) to raise N5bn for the rehabilitation of Government College Katsina-Ala in Benue State. The 111-year-old institution requires urgent intervention to prevent further deterioration of its facilities, including classroom blocks that have remained unchanged for decades.

KAOBA National President Anthony Adda stated that the initiative aims to restore the school and prevent it from ‘dying’. The association has previously sought government intervention without success. Adda also raised concerns regarding alleged encroachment on school land and the sale of staff quarters by previous administrations, which has resulted in some teachers living off-premises.

The fundraising launch is scheduled for Monday, October 19, at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja. KAOBA is seeking contributions from corporate organizations, financial institutions, traditional rulers, and wealthy Nigerians. Danjuma, an alumnus, previously supported the school by renovating five hostels approximately three years ago.
