Tychy to launch pilot telecare program for seniors

The city of Tychy is launching a pilot telecare program this autumn to enhance safety for seniors and people with disabilities. Managed by the Municipal Social Welfare Center (MOPS), the initiative provides wearable safety bands to residents aged 60 and older, specifically targeting those living in assisted housing or individuals who struggle with independent living.

The safety bands allow users to call for help via an alarm button in the event of a fall or sudden health deterioration. The device connects to a 24/7 intervention center that can organize appropriate assistance. Additionally, the bands can monitor basic health parameters such as heart rate, oxygen saturation, and temperature, transmitting this data to the telecare system for overview purposes.

The pilot program will run from September to December. If successful, the city plans to expand the program and potentially purchase up to 15 bands along with system maintenance by 2026. The project is funded through state budget grants and the city's own resources.
