Tyga admits to using AI for new '$TARFACE' album production

Rapper Tyga has confirmed that he used artificial intelligence to assist in the production of his new, 1980s-inspired album, '$TARFACE.' In an interview with VIBE, Tyga admitted to using the music generator Suno to create specific instrumental elements, such as retro synthesizers and guitar solos.

Tyga defended the use of generative AI as a legitimate creative tool, comparing the current backlash to the initial skepticism surrounding Auto-Tune in the early 2000s. He stated, "It’s no different than when Auto-Tune came out. Some people were opposed to it, but real artists took it and used it." He emphasized that while the instrumentation utilized AI, his songwriting and all vocal performances remain entirely human.

The admission follows weeks of speculation and allegations from producers and listeners regarding the album's polished, synth-heavy production. The debate has also touched on Tyga's associate, Fenix Flexin, who has faced similar scrutiny over his music.
