Tyla launches music scholarship for female students
South African singer Tyla has launched the ‘That Girl’ Music Scholarship in partnership with Epic Records, Sony Music, and the International Institute for Education. The initiative aims to support female students pursuing tertiary music education by helping them overcome financial barriers such as tuition, equipment, and living expenses.
Ten recipients will each receive a scholarship valued at $5,000. The distribution includes six awards in the United States—specifically in New York City, Washington, D.C., Tampa, Atlanta, Houston, and Los Angeles—with priority given to students at Historically Black Colleges and Universities. The remaining four awards are reserved for young women in South Africa.
To qualify, applicants must be at least 18 years old, enrolled as full-time undergraduate students in music or arts-related majors, and demonstrate both academic excellence and financial need. In addition to the monetary award, recipients will receive concert tickets and a meet-and-greet with Tyla during her A*POP World Tour.
