Tyla releases sophomore album ‘A*Pop’ and explores musical roots

South African Grammy-winning artist Tyla has released her sophomore album, ‘A*Pop’, a project she describes as being inspired by her younger self and her desire to become a pop star.

The album blends African pop and R&B, incorporating global influences that Tyla says make the music difficult to categorize into a single genre. One of the project's tracks, ‘She Did It Again’, features a collaboration with Swedish pop singer Zara Larsson.

In addition to her musical developments, Tyla has discussed her connection to sneaker culture. During a recent appearance in New York City, she highlighted how footwear serves as a form of self-expression within music and streetwear, noting that her practical needs as a dancer also influence her style choices.
