Tyler Boebert appears in court on child sexual exploitation charges

Tyler Boebert, the 21-year-old son of U.S. Representative Lauren Boebert, appeared in a Colorado court for his first hearing regarding five felony charges, including three counts of sexual exploitation of a child and two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

The charges stem from an investigation initiated in early 2024 following reports of sexual activity involving minors posted to a private Instagram account. Investigators allege that when the incident occurred in February 2024, Boebert was 18 and the victim was 17.

During the hearing, 9th Judicial District Court Judge Elise Myer issued a mandatory protection order prohibiting Boebert from contacting or harassing the protected parties. Boebert expressed concern regarding potential accidental contact at his place of employment, to which the judge advised him to step away and consult his employer should such a situation arise.

Boebert, who appeared without legal representation, was released on a $10,000 bond following his arrest on August 9. He is scheduled for his next court appearance on September 10, which will also include sentencing for a separate criminal case involving vehicle trespass and property theft.
