Tyler Boebert, the 21-year-old son of U.S. Representative Lauren Boebert, has been sentenced to at least 20 nights in a work release program at the Weld County jail. The sentence follows his guilty plea to misdemeanor child abuse without injury, stemming from a July 2025 incident where his toddler son was found wandering unsupervised outside the congresswoman’s Windsor residence.

Prosecutor Brice Rudolph informed the court that this was the third time in 2025 the child had been found wandering alone, including instances near a busy road and a body of water. During the hearing, Rep. Boebert requested leniency from Judge Michele Meyer, arguing that the incidents were a “failure of communication” rather than acts of cruelty and urging the court to keep the family intact.

The sentencing is subject to a delay until Tyler Boebert is sentenced in a separate Garfield County case involving an attempted identity theft charge. Defense attorney Joseph Gavaldon noted that a previous child abuse charge from February had been dropped.
