Tyler Boebert sentenced to probation and jail time

Tyler Boebert, the 21-year-old son of U.S. Representative Lauren Boebert, has been sentenced to two years of supervised probation and 20 days in jail with work release. The sentence follows the revocation of a deferred judgment by 9th Judicial District Court Judge Elise Myer after Boebert violated the terms of his previous agreement.

Boebert had originally pleaded guilty in 2024 to attempted identity theft following a series of vehicle trespasses and property thefts in Rifle, Colorado. The deferred judgment would have allowed him to avoid a felony conviction upon successful completion of probation. However, the agreement was revoked after Boebert pleaded guilty to misdemeanor child abuse in Weld County involving an incident where his toddler son was left unsupervised.

During the hearing, Representative Boebert spoke in support of her son, asking the court for mercy and emphasizing his role as a father. Boebert also addressed the court, apologizing to the victims and the community. While the identity theft case was a primary factor in the sentencing, the court noted that Boebert faces additional charges in Garfield County regarding child sexual exploitation, though those were not factored into this specific sentencing as he is presumed innocent.
