Tyler Morton scores as Lyon advance to Champions League play-offs

Tyler Morton scored a notable goal for Lyon as the French side secured a 3-0 victory against Sparta Prague, advancing to the Champions League play-off round. Despite trailing 2-1 from the first leg, Paulo Fonseca’s team overturned the deficit on home soil.

Morton, a 23-year-old former Liverpool midfielder, sealed the win in the 72nd minute with a powerful strike into the top corner. Since his £15m transfer to Lyon a year ago, Morton has made 45 appearances for the club. He has expressed that the move helped him rediscover his ‘love for football’ following a lack of trust during his final season at Liverpool.
