Tyler Perry funds HBCU alumna's remaining Harvard tuition
Tyler Perry covered the remaining cost of tuition for Janay DuBerry, a graduate of Tuskegee University who was accepted to the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Although Harvard provided generous financial aid, DuBerry faced a significant funding gap and said she was unsure how she could attend. She posted on Instagram thanking Perry, describing his support as a “long journey” and a “light in the Black community.”
Perry, a billionaire filmmaker known for frequent philanthropy, has previously funded the funeral of Nolan Wells, contributed millions to senior homeowners in Atlanta, and donated to food‑security initiatives. His assistance enabled DuBerry to continue her education and pursue her writing and educational work.
