Tyler Perry’s ‘Doing Life’ trailer released by Netflix

Netflix has released the official trailer and first-look images for ‘Doing Life’, a new urban drama written, directed, and produced by Tyler Perry. The film is scheduled to premiere globally on the streaming platform on Friday, October 2, 2026.

The story follows the unexpected bond between Anika, a single mother struggling to survive, and Carousel, a reformed ex-convict with untapped talents. The characters first meet at Holloway Correctional during a prison riot, where Carousel saves Anika and her unborn child. After his release, the two reconnect through letters and support one another as they seek second chances in life.

The film stars Naomi Baker as Anika and Jay Reeves as Carousel. Perry, who also serves as a producer alongside Tony L. Strickland and Angi Bones, stated that the project was inspired by the resilience of single mothers and individuals seeking redemption after incarceration.
