Tyler Riddle sentenced to 15 years for stabbing girlfriend 22 times

Tyler Riddle, 34, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison following a violent attack in August 2025. Riddle pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated assault and two counts of child abuse.

The incident occurred at the residence of his then-girlfriend, Erin Hume. During the assault, Riddle stabbed Hume 22 times, including a laceration across her throat. Hume’s two children, who were inside the home at the time, were also injured after attempting to intervene and protect their mother; they were reportedly struck in the face by Riddle.

Hume credited her 12-year-old son’s 911 call for her survival. Prosecutors noted that Riddle had been using drugs, including psychedelics, on the night of the attack. In court, Hume stated that Riddle had become abusive over time and showed “absolutely no mercy” during the incident.
