Tyler Robinson's subpoena request denied in Charlie Kirk murder case

Charlie Kirk, co‑founder of the conservative youth group Turning Point USA, was shot and killed during a speaking event at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah, in September 2025. The 23‑year‑old suspect, Tyler Robinson, turned himself in the following day and has been charged with felony aggravated murder and related offenses.

On June 22, 2026, Utah District Judge Tony Graf Jr. rejected Robinson’s motion to subpoena his former romantic partner, known as Lance "Luna" Twiggs, to testify in person at the upcoming preliminary hearing. The court allowed prosecutors to rely on a recorded interview, a handwritten note, texts, and other evidence instead. The judge also denied Robinson’s request to block hearsay evidence, citing the Utah Constitution’s allowance for reliable hearsay to establish probable cause at a preliminary hearing. The next hearing is set for July 6, with additional matters to be addressed beforehand.
