Tyler, Texas Offers Free Back-to-School Supplies to 2,000 Students

On August 6, the Tyler Independent School District and local partners will host the #SchoolIsCool event at the W. T. Brookshire Conference Center and Rose Garden Center in Tyler, Texas. The free‑entry event will provide backpacks filled with pens, pencils, paper, folders, notebooks, spirals and other essentials to the first 2,000 students who arrive, on a first‑come, first‑served basis.

In addition to school supplies, attendees can receive haircuts, immunizations, vision screenings, educational information, transportation details and after‑school‑care resources. The initiative, supported by Tyler-area businesses and nonprofit organizations, has been running for 13 years to help families offset the average $560 per‑child back‑to‑school cost. Classes for Tyler ISD begin on August 12.
