Tymbark footbridge: WWII resistance story shared by local family

Leszek Smotr has shared family accounts regarding a wartime operation involving a footbridge over the Słopniczanka river near Tymbark. According to the recollections, brothers Władysław and Stanisław Wargoccy, members of the Home Army (Armia Krajowa), successfully disarmed a group of German soldiers during the war.

Władysław Wargoccy, a member of the Krakow Kedyw, reportedly utilized a bluff to convince approximately 16 German soldiers stationed near a nearby bunker to surrender. By coordinating with his brother Stanisław, who was hidden nearby with weapons, Władysław was able to disarm the group and lead them to a partisan base on Mogielica.
