Typhoon Krathon impacts East Asian coasts and triggers emergency responses

Typhoon Krathon, currently a tropical storm, is moving slowly near the Ryukyu Islands. Its outer circulation is bringing increased rainfall and wind to various coastal regions in East Asia, including Taiwan and parts of China.

In China, authorities have issued a blue typhoon warning. In Zhejiang, the Zhoushan Maritime Bureau has initiated an emergency response, leading to the suspension of 39 shipping routes and the stoppage of 56 maritime engineering projects. Over 4,000 tourists have been evacuated from remote islands. Fujian province has also adjusted its flood prevention response to level three.

In Taiwan, the Central Weather Administration reports that the typhoon's influence is causing significant rain in northern areas and the east coast. While weather is expected to stabilize early next week, the first wave of the autumn northeast monsoon is forecasted to arrive around Wednesday, September 9. This monsoon is expected to bring light rain to northern and eastern regions with only a slight temperature drop of 1 to 2 degrees Celsius.
