Typhoon Narra approaches Guangdong coast as Hong Kong monitors weather

Typhoon Narra is moving northwest toward the Guangdong coast of China after exiting the Philippine Area of Responsibility. While the storm did not make landfall in the Philippines, it contributed to monsoon rains in Luzon over the weekend.

In Hong Kong, the Observatory reports that Narra is currently slow-moving near the Leizhou Peninsula and maintaining distance from the territory. A tropical cyclone warning signal is unlikely unless the storm approaches the Pearl River Estuary. However, Hong Kong is expected to experience intermittent showers, squally thunderstorms, and strong winds through midweek due to an active southerly airstream.

In the Philippines, PAGASA is monitoring several weather systems, including Obet, which is exiting the region, and Gaenari, a tropical depression near Batanes. The monsoon continues to bring heavy rainfall to parts of Luzon, including Metro Manila and Central Luzon, posing risks of flash floods and landslides.
