Tyra Banks pursues defamation lawsuit against Netflix

Tyra Banks is currently involved in a legal dispute with Netflix regarding the docuseries ‘Reality Check: Insider America’s Next Top Model’. Banks filed a defamation lawsuit in Los Angeles federal court in June 2026, alleging that the producers used selective editing to misrepresent her. Her legal team argues that while she participated in over three hours of interviews, only 16 minutes were used, claiming that her attempts at accountability were left on the ‘cutting room floor’.

Banks is seeking to compel Netflix to release raw footage of interviews with J. Alexander and Jay Manuel, as well as internal communications, draft scripts, and viewership data to support her case. Netflix has requested the lawsuit be dismissed, arguing that Banks' requests for information are too broad.

Amidst the legal proceedings, Banks has also drawn public attention for a change in her appearance. Celebrity hairstylist Arrogant Tae recently shared images of Banks featuring blonde highlights and bombshell curls, a look that has received significant engagement from fans on social media.
